TBT  UNPLUGGED Here is this week's TBT. Just looking at this one makes me feel relaxed and stress free. This is oil on mylar. The final on the left shows a slight shadow change from when I first painted it.  A work of art still in the studio is never safe from adjustments.   As Leonardo da Vinci reportedly said , " Art is never finished. Only abandoned."   Unplugged  by Rachel Jones Sold Free Shipping for contiguous US Please read the fine print at the bottom of  SHOP

Tensile Strength is defined as the resistance of a material to breaking under tension or the force required to pull something apart like a rope or a beam until it breaks . There are various nuances  to the definition, but you get the point. As much as it is a structural term, I think it equally applies to relationships whether it be familiar, romantic, friendships.....  Should a tensile strength exist is relationships? Yes? No? Is the idea of a "breaking point" taboo? In this day and age has that 'line' drawn in the sand receded? So many questions and so many circumstances. What I do know is that any sturdy structure requires a sturdy foundation. It's the little things that are important and strengthen that bond. Here is one of my favorite little things . This is today's TBT Throwback Pricing for 48 Hours. Great for gifting. Tensile Strength by Rachel Jones Oil on Panel 5” X 5”

TBT On this TBT, I'm throwing it back  a bit to a show I was part of at William H Miller gallery where the theme was Forgery . My little contribution was this Mucha rendition of Moon and Stars. He painted several in this series from around 1902. I visited Prague once, and the city definitely embraced their own Alphonse Mucha (if only for us tourists) as much as he embraced Art Nouveau.   On this Throw Back Thursday, I'm also throwing back the price on my art study. It is oil and silver leaf on panel and framed. Approximately H 24 inches X W 12 inches. 48 hours via PayPal (Cash or Check if local) plus shipping. As always, Local Delivery available at no extra charge.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.  And as always...tell a friend. USA Sales only. Mucha Moon and Stars Study by Rachel Jones SOLD ( NOTE: If Shipping is necessary, it will be calculated after purchase and a separate charge)

In preparation for a couple of larger watercolor pieces, I’ve been warming up that creative side of the brain with smaller postcard pieces of art. These never really go to waste. In addition to warming up, they make great small framed works, postcards, or collages. Everything will not be a masterpiece. But it may turn into one.  Or the process of actually painting may spark the idea for that signature piece. So create without the pressure.  Grow and have fun along the way. - r. jones Watercolor by Rachel Jones Watercolor by Rachel Jones

Fresh off the Easel I worked on this one into the wee hours of the night. As the music continued to play in the background, thoughts, ideas, memories continued to float through my mind down my arm onto the canvas. I began to think of the power of words and how it conjured up things. In the end, I had to stop. It could have gone on forever and ever- an endless rabbit hole.
