Cape Cod

When I began to delve more into realism, I painted my “Searching” piece. It is oil on panel. It is a smallish piece (7” X 5”) but I think it is one of my most powerful works. An unexplainable bond forms as a work is created since it is just you and your thoughts and the work hours on end. I’m pleased that  Cape Cod Cultural Center  also appreciated the idea behind this little piece. It was awarded 1st Place in their online exhibition A Perfec Moment.  Please take a moment, to view the other winners and the entire exhibit. The juror/curator was Rob Warren. This prize wining piece is available. Contact me for details.

If you look at the 🔝 of this blog, you’ll see a tab where you are able to purchase art directly from my little studio. If you’re local or simply passing through, we can even have a little chat and exchange a story or two in person. I use PayPal to send an invoice for quick and easy transactions, but other forms of payment can be discussed.  I understand that not everyone has room or desire larger pieces, so I will use this page for smaller pieces mostly (though a few larger ones will make appearances). You are now also able to sign up for Zoom Art Lessons. These are designed for beginners mainly where I’ll catch you up to speed by sharing some of the most useful techniques and insights I wish I’d known much earlier.  So keep an eye out, subscribe, and tell a friend. Below are some of the small Art Cards and Greeting Cards I’ve created that are hand painted one of a kind  (no prints) which are perfect for giving or framing. These will be posted as I make them, so fi...

Currently, some of my work is  part of a show at TRAX in Lake City, SC. I have four pieces, but I’d like to focus on these two for a second. This may seem to be a slight departure from my floral figure mix, but it is actually a revisiting of a painting I’ve tackled several times…INSIGHT. Here I present INSIGHT REVISITED and THIRD DEGREE OF INSIGHT. One of my favorite things to do between working on more ‘polished’ pieces is to simply doodle in a sketch book. Often it is necessary to work out composition or ideas, but mostly it is a place where I can just play without any expectations, rules, or eyes prying and scribble until my heart is content.  I find there is magic in that ‘rawness’. It solidly documents the mood or thoughts of a day in a way words cannot. So with these two pieces my goal was to rip a page from that journal and create a ‘finished’ piece without losing the energy and naivety.
